When I freelanced at FerskTech, they were a very new startup. They had a website but wanted help revamping it. I worked with their marketing manager and a copywriter from an agency.

PROBLEM
SOLUTION
FerskTech asked me to design and build their website.
A dashboard with charts that allows the user to see the audit failures in different contexts.
___
The beginning
I started this project by making sure I knew who this website was for (besides the client). I didn't think it was necessary to create full personas, so I created these "mini personas" outlining what is important to each kind of website visitor.
Site map
Based on my mini personas, I laid out a site map.
Style guide
I created a style guide by applying the company's branding guidelines.
WIREFRAMES
The marketing manager from FerskTech showed me some other websites that she liked. Based on those I came up with some "wireframes" for different homepages. These wireframes are more polished than usual because I wanted the client to be able to visualize the layout more easily.
At this point I was using their existing copy. I probably should have pushed more for them to finalized their copy, but it just wasn't something I had control of at the time.
The marketing manager like option A but wanted a few tweaks so we landed on the option below:
From there I worked out the wireframes for the rest of the pages.
High fidelity Mockups
The client really wanted to use stock photos throughout the website so those are used in the first iterations in the high fidelity mockups. Later I was able to talk them out of this. I felt that those photos were impersonal, and they were struggling to find stock photos that didn't require a license.
The client decided they wanted to use graphics instead of photos. I am not a graphic designer, but I did find some vector graphics from undraw.com that didn't require a license and allowed for color customization. This was the point where the copywriter was hired so we were finally able to get some final content.
Overall this project had a lot of back and forth largely due to FerskTech figuring out the impression and voice they were going for. I did not know how to use Wordpress or Elementor in the beginning of this project, but I just jumped in and put it together. It was a really educational experience for me and the client was really happy in the end.
